I recently blew the turbo in my 2013.5 GLI and was wondering if there is any difference in the turbo in the 2014 and up being as its the same ea888 gen 3 motor. It's hard searching for a replacement and entering the year of vehicle being as it's the half year motor.

As long as the turbo is from the same engine as your car, which is a gen 3, then they should be the exact same.

Make sure it’s garret ihi and not and “is” series turbo.

The is20 is for the mqb version of the car it’s completely backwards

Sweet! It is the stock turbo from the factory, still investigating what could caused the failure. The car has 96k miles and im the 3rd owner. I went to VW's website and cross referenced the part number off of a 14 GLI, and ordered the Garrett replacement. I couldn't see what series it was but according to the specs and diagrams it's all mounted the same direction. 🤞
