There are still some very fine forums out there. But with most of them you log in using your FB or Discus credentials.
The advantage of a proper forum is that you can continue discussions over a period of months or years. On another VW forum I'm a part of, we have one regularly-updated thread that was started 13 years ago; it now has over 9000 comments.

Spotted a white MkVII GTI with black wheels on Dean Pkwy (between Isles and Calhoun in Minneapolis) with a Lyft sticker in the back window.

Yeah , nowhere near the traffic it used to get. This thread used to be hard to keep up with and now its pretty much dead
Yea the dub scene is pretty dead now days as well. Sad panda.

Sorry man, the days of active local independent forum platforms has come and gone and everyone transitioned to closed platforms, and even though most people agree Facebook is terrible, there isn't a clear alternative that has built any significant momentum. Sucks, but it is what it is. Even the eurowerks forum is long gone. RIP.

yeah, I know. I miss the good old days of Twin Cities car culture. The first Eurowerks show on top the the parking garage in downtown was a small gathering, but it was a great show.
I also miss the Friday night Midway gatherings circa 1998-2003.

Porkys was great. The VW people mostly occupied the Autozone (or maybe Advanced?) parking lot near to Snelling Ave and I like the lot key agro vibe of us trying to keep it as a VW only lot, lol.
Lots of Volksport jackets being worn there.
I still use my volksport coozie at work. People ask me what that is. I just nod.
I am looking to bring the kiddo to the bug in at Westside in June? She loves the old microbus and beetle.
