Re: Under GAS PEDAL? (apc8118)

is this proven anywhere? I'm just wondering why no one mentioned this uber-inexpensive "mod" before. I am wondering: if the piece was there, maybe there's a reason, right? nah, to hell with it. Performance is #1, dammit!

being able to depress the gas pedal farther will do absolutely nothing for throttle response. the effect you feel is probably in your head.
if you want to get better TR, you should tighten the throttle cable inside the engine bay.

You've got a good point, I'm guessing that if it comes from the factory like that, there is probably a reason for it, i think my cousin told me that if it is removed the throttle cable stretches farther and could possibly break, i dunno for sure though. I say just leave it alone

BONG! http://****************.com/smile/emthdown.gif
No. All it does is limit the pedal travel. Throttle response has nothing to do with this because it doesn't open the throttle any faster nor does it allow more air in the intake or squirt more fuel. If there isn't a stop on the throttle then what you can end up doing is going beyone WOT and put the throttle plate back into a restriction mode, thus decreasing performance. Putting extra strain on the cable sounds quite reasonable to me, thus leading to premature failure.
If it was actually that noticable (and I really don't believe people unless it's been dyno'd or they're experienced racers) then you probably need to tighten your throttle cable to take up the slack. However, if you do tighten the cable you'll need to put the stop back in place.
I don't want to sound too harsh but many of us know enough about cars to know what works and what is hype.
