Passat coupes are definitely sexy. I don't think we got that gen coupe in the US... if we did it's quite rare (B2).

That's a B1. USA got both B1 and B2 coupes. North American B1s had a different front end; we never got the quad-rectangular lights. Those lights were available in Brazil and Iraq (elsewhere in the Middle East too?).

Thought it looked funny. Didn't Europe have the round lights as well (like ours)?
Still sexy either way

Lamentably my B1 knowledge is not good enough to answer this definitely. I believe the early B1s had single big round headlights with no corner lights (fenders extend all the way forward). These were available both "here" and "there". Also in the early ones, Europe got 4 smaller round headlights without corner lights. I believe Brazil also had both of these styles.
The facelifted cars had corner lights added. European models had big rectangular H4 headlights (I'd like a set, btw) looking like European A1 Jetta headlights. The quad round headlights like on my Dasher (picture below) were the only ones available in North America, were not available in Brazil, and were an upgrade on the higher-trimmed models in Europe I think.

The B1s in Brazil were sold all the way to 1987 or so (only -1981 in USA / -1979 in Canada).
Now, let's see more Brazuca B1s!
