First get out your mothers spoons and butter knives and...oh wait that's for a bicycle tire. I would have to say no as an automotive tire is simply too stiff to bend around a rim with hand tools. That 's why hydraulic machines are used at tire centers. Feel free to try it and prove me wrong.

It can be done I've done it before. If you have the tools. 2 Large pry bars that look like spoons, some soap to help the tire slide over the rim, a 10 lb solid rubber mallet and the strenght and endurance to swing that hammer for about twenty minutes for each tire. I also did this on stock steel wheels and tall 78 series tires. Low profile tires would be out of the question. Changing tires this way is the definition of work.
Yes, some thing are worth paying the money for.
