I got a kit that replaces the plastic bearing and the bearing cup under my shift lever. Bentley says: take off exhaust from exhaust manifold, take off shift tube bracket, loosen shift tube clamp and slide tube through and it sounds that easy. I have done everything except taking the exhaust off because on an 87 those studs are almost one with the exhaust mani. I've got the shifter assembly apart and I can move the tube but I can't get it out of the hole that the shifter is in to replace my shattered parts. Is there a trick? Am I missing something? I would greatly appreciate the vortex's input as I have done many a time.
