Re: urgent.. Transmission question.. any pros/techs?? (PhOO)

Looking at the picture you posted... I'm not sure what I'm supposed to look for.

The outside section you circled never touches anything when installed and should be dry. It just sits inside the tranny bell-housing spinning along with the crankshaft.
Is it the rusty section you are referring too? Does your clutch-cover have a good seal when bolted up in-between your tranny and oilpan?
This is what mine looked like after 70k miles:

Well... here is what that thing spins inside and the throwout bearing pushes against the splines of the pressure plate:

Is the wear you indicated actual scrapings? or some funky paint chipped off? Could the pressure plate be getting extremely hot? I know flywheels can become heat-soaked and warped as a result... which makes a funky chattering sound.
If it is scrapes... then the only thing I can think of that would come in contact would be the clutch fork (that release mechanism thing that pushes the throwout bearing into the pressure plate).
I haven't got a clue!

Oops... I just crapped my pants!

Holy crap, what kind of clutch disc is that?
Man... I'm sorry to see that happen. Would you mind sharing with us what kind of power you were putting to the ground? Was it just too much for that disc to handle?

Looks like a clutch from velocity....either a dual fiber or a dual friction....lol...hmmm... so which is it ??/ how many miles....I bet if it was a dual friction....it probably wore a ring on the pressure plate......anyways let us know buddy...
