06 GLI need some VAG - Com work especially when I recieve the EURO taillights I have ordered. Anyone in the Central Texas area????
A couple of questions however on the requirments to make these lights work correctly and get the AMBER light working once installed.
1) Do you require VAG-COM programming to make these lights work correctly?
2) Do you need to replace current OEM Light switch to a EURO Switch?

There are three DIYs on the Euro Tail lights.
Passat Mode, Amber Mode, and the Rear Fog light.
They are listed under the MKV FAQ/DIY section.
The Rear Fog Light will require a Euro Switch with a Rear Fog selection.

Re: VAG-COM capabilites in AUSTIN, TEXAS - Euro rear lights - 06 GLI (355890)

Can you walk me thru the process from scratch. I have found someone that has indciated that I can use his VAG COM here in AUSTIN. However he does not know how to operate it for the feature that I am looking for.
I just need to know what to do from the moment I plug in and the steps I need to do as I get these lights (including fog and amber) to work correctly.
I spoke with someone over the phone today and they indciate to me that ever car is different and therefore the codes would be different, but I'm not convinced that this is true.
I am going to need very specific step by step instructions if I hope to make these EURO lights work with fog and amber.
I would sure appreciate your help

Is this true?
I have my euro tails on order for my 06 GLI, how will I know what the vehicle specific changes should be made in vag com?

BYTEs 09 through 13 of Central Electronics (09) controller are the main change for AMBER Tails. Stock NAR BYTES are as follows:
14 00 00 00 14
AMBER are as follows:
0A 00 00 0F 00
An example of of coding, including the AMBER BYTES, and deletion of cold diagnostics, and the activation of the Emergency Stop/flashing of the tail lights follows:
AMBER (EURO) LEDs
17 07 8E 23 40 04 15 00 00 0A 00 00 0F 00 00 00 00 29 55 03 5C
BYTES 09 through 13 change for the Euro AMBER Tail Lights.
BYTES 17 through 19 have minor changes to disable cold diagnostics on the (no longer installed) incandescent bulbs, and enable the High Speed Emergency Stop flashing of the Tail Lights (to let people behind you know that something is seriously wrong on the road ahead).
