I went out to eat with my mom, grandma, aunt, gf, sisters, etc...and we ended up out on City Island (Bronx, for those of you that don't know)...the slammin seafood spot.
Anyway I roll up in front of the restaurant my fam had picked to eat at and what do I see...I see a sign that says "Valet Parking - Please stop here". Being the Corrado owner that I am, I proceed to drive past the sign about 3/4 into the road that leads into the parking lot. A parking attendant comes running out of nowhere and says, "please stop. Leave your keys in the vehicle and come out with your hands up"...
...nah just kidding
...he really said "please stop, leave the keys in the car and we'll take care of it".
Now here is the problem. My car has an alarm, cut off switch, and starts up pretty weird...only I know how to start it not to mention I'm already pissed as hell because they have to valet my car. I let my gf and my lil sis out the car and I tell the guy, "yo, you're not going to be able to start my car when I come back to pick it up, so I'll be back in the parking lot to come get it". I knew 100% that he wouldn't be able to start my car because I didn't tell him about the alarm, switch, or anything else. He was in such a rush to take my car that he didn't wanna hear anything so I said to myself, Ok, he wants to be big man, let him be. As I was walking away I said no, wait a minute, let me watch this guy drive my car and park it. I stood there and watched him park my car...
He went to put the car into 1st gear and put it in REVERSE. He took off and the car went backward for 2-3 feet. I said to myself, here we go...
The guy gets it right this time
and goes into 1st gear and drives my car about 25 feet, then reverses into a parking spot.
I was pretty fortunate that he parked my car right next to the table my family was seated at but I wasn't giving that idiot a tip, that's for sure.
Ok, we eat, and its time to leave the restaurant. Meanwhile, I'm thinking to myself, "this idiot isn't going to be able to start my car". My mother goes up to the guy and give him her ticket so he can go get her 360 modena for her. (jk, jeep grand cherokee
). She knows that the guy isn't going to be able to start my car on his own so she tells him "Sir, you might need help starting the car from my son". The guy is walking fast-paced and just nods his head up and down as if he knows everything. He comes back with her jeep, fine. He goes to get my car, and I'm waiting for it in the front of the restaurant by now...but I'm looking down the alley leading to the parking lot, only to see him come out and call me to go start my own car.
So yea, what happens, YES...just as I predicted...the idiot couldn't start my car and came out of the parking lot and signaled me to come over. I walked back there with my gf, all the while letting her know how dumb this guy was, and I go start up my car in one shot.

I proceed to leave the restaurant and wudduyaknow...the $5 never came out my pocket for the dude. To recap, he didn't listen to me, he grinded reverse, and put it in reverse when he meant to put it in 1st gear.
What a tool.

Lesson learned...I'm not letting ANYONE valet my car for as long as I live. That was the first and the LAST time. Hey he valeted it for 25 feet but I don't give a sht
.
Here's a pic of my car next to our table, safe and sound

Re: Valet Parking = t3h n3V4r @g41n!!! (The VR you hate)

Valet guys think they know everything. I will never valet park my car again after what happened to me at Atlantic City. I was staying in a casino and figured I would live it up and spring for the valet parking. What a mistake. No problem actually taking the car and parking it (surprisingly) However, my girlfriend and i go to leave for dinner and the idiot's that work there can't find my car. After waiting twenty minutes they say the keys are missing and then ask for my help finding them from a huge wall of keys. so i start looking and freaking out ( i only have one set of keys) so i'm thinking " i'm screwed". When all of a sudden my car is mysteriously found. So i go out and check the MFA for how long it was running and how many miles it was driven and some arshole was out joyriding in my C!!!! http://****************.com/smile/emthdown.gif So I proceeded to freak out on the manager and got like $100 put on my comp card, which was cool. nevertheless, i will never valet my car again.

I always tell the valet there's twice the standard tip in it for him if he lets me park it myself, and tell him to jump in and show me where he wants me to park it. Works every time, and well worth the $10.

Re: Valet Parking = t3h n3V4r @g41n!!! (SpookyReverb)

Hey I'm a valet!!! Some tiems these porche owners won't let me drive their car and i'm like ok fine put it right there. Usually backwards up on a hill and I laugh to myself as they stall it out
then i proceed to ask them if they need help and park it for them no prob lol. Some custies are ***** but being a fellow enthusiast I understand the bond with their ride and always try to accomodate them accordingly and wait for my fatty tip
Sorry to hear about your bad experience I know how you feel as there are quite a few tools that work with me that I would NEVER let touch my ride.

ok so this dude tells you he'll take care of your car for you, accidently puts it in reverse (which ofcourse is right next to first), parks it for you fine, and then couldn't start it because you didnt tell him it has a kill switch? wow that guys really an a$$hole.
valets arent stupid. they know about kill switches and alarms, you just have to tell them about them. the guy was in a rush... probably so he could get everybodys car parked and back to them without having to make people wait. i think your the [email protected]# for not tipping him, he did nothing wrong. if you dont want you car valet parked, park it elsewhere. the guy was probably required to valet it if it went into the lot.
yea, im a valet.

Snowglida he still shouldn't have cold shouldered him. If the owner of the car said he wouldn't be able to start it then he should have asked what he needed to do and not be a know it all smart a$$. I wouldn't have even let him drive my Corrado and thats for damn sure. There are to few of them and if you get in the slightest accident the insurance company will try and total it.

By the way, I didn't even know they made the VR6 in yellow...cool

Thats fuc%ed up man. If that ever happened to me I would go crazy. Im really anal about my C. My worst was at a car wash in Chelsea MA. They make you get out of the car and they drive it through. Well I didnt want to let them drive it but I had no choice and I needed a wash. So the guy gets in. He stalls it twice getting it to the line. Ok fine no big deal. Another guy pulls the car out to be dried off and he ends up hitting a brand new BMW, Mind you my paint was only about 3 months old. Suprisingly the owner of the BMW wasnt mad but me on the other hand, I went fukin nuts on the manager. They ended up paying me for my damages. a small scratch on the bumper and gave me a coupon for like 10 free car washes. I never went back again. Needless to say nobody drives my C anymore

Re: Valet Parking = t3h n3V4r @g41n!!! (radocharlie)

valets are a scam. i put up with it for awhile but now that i've put so much money into my car and developed such a bond, never again. i haven't allowed it for the last few years. if i pull up and they don't let me park my own car, i either park nearby on the street or just never go back to wherever it is that demanded i relinquish my most prized possession to a complete stranger and then expect money for it. it's outrageous is what it is.
not to mention the hidden camera reports 20/20 has done where they showed a large percentage of valets stealing money and gum and stuff from the cars.
and i'm sure there are plenty of fine valets that would treat my car with respect but why should i roll the dice.

haha you're a funny dude

My alarm was going off and the dude was still trying to crank it and start my car up...yea...valet drivers know EVERYTHING
....whatever
It has a kill switch and only I know where it is. Why would I tell someone else where my kill switch is???...hmm, you get my vote for the Mr. Assclown award buddy

Again, would you tell someone where you leave the extra set of keys for your house...if they're under a rock or something in your backyard? Great, didn't think so. Why in the HELL would I tell him where my kill switch was if it was CLEAR that my alarm was going off. Any idiot, besides that valet driver of course, would know to hit the button on my remote to make my alarm shut off in order to start up the car.

Wrong. Wrong. Wrong. The guy was in a rush to DRIVE MY CAR, there's a difference. When I rolled up to the restaurant there were NO CARS there waiting to be parked. He was in the back chatting with his boys or whatever so he was slippin from the start. Secondly, I stated earlier that I rolled up to HIM...almost got into the parking lot...so yea, he was doing his job
...yea right.
I tip who I want to tip, no questions asked. You mean to tell me if someone were to purposely put your car in first gear, BUT accidently put it in reverse and GRIND it, you wouldn't be pissed? The man thought he knew it all, but he didn't know the half fool. I told him about 5-6 times, and my mother told him once herself, that he would probably have a problem starting the car, but he kept walking past us and didn't really make an attempt to act like he was listening. If the dude would've got smart with my mother, well lets not even go there because when someone treats your mother like sht in front of you, they most likely end up getting snuffed, or icepicked, something of that nature. Oh well.
The guy was, you said it, PROBABLY REQUIRED to valet...but not quite
. Come on man, the dude was in his mid 30's valeting at a meteocre restaurant...oh yea, he must be supporting his neighborhood with that 6-figure valet salary of his
.

yea, im a valet.

So? I valeted last summer in Midtown and got to drive people's cars around Manhattan to other garages from the hotel (The Waldorf=Astoria). TT Supras, 991's, Bentley's, Rolls Royces, every BMW, Benz, Ferrari, you name it...and I can't recall ever damaging, let alone GRINDING gears in one of our customer's cars. If you see a nice car roll up, you don't treat it like your fat uncle's rusted up1986 Dodge Aries. Since you're a world-reknown valet, you should know
