Valvoline Synthetic

I read on a post that you can't change to Valvoline Snythetic from non-synt fluids unless you replace all components in the system due to the two mixing becoming corrosive (even with a flush) -- sounds off to me. Can anyone confirm this? I just can't believe that could be true...

I think that's true, although I don't understand it completely. It has something to do with the fact that any rubber components that have previously interacted with glycol based fluids (regular dot3 & dot4) will then react poorly with the new synthetic fluid. The rubber will soften and swell. We may need a chemist to explain it.
