VCDS Software Asking for a "One to Three Digit number" before brake bleed procedure

I attempted to do a complete VCDS brake bleed on a 2015 Audi S3 I am rebuilding (needs it because one of the calipers broke during the accident and pedal is still soft after standard bleed).

When I clicked start/go for options brake bleed AND fill & bleed I got the same message:

When I go into the security options, and in general, no bubble pops up telling me what this code might be, even though it has on previous, older cars I've done this job with. Does anyone have any insight?

I was able to actuate open the calipers and close them, but that is it; I think there is air in the ABS pump causing a soft pedal so I really need to do a VCDS brake bleed. Thanks in advance.

Just get another person in the car:
Engine NOT running!
Have them pump the brake 3-times, and HOLD.
You open the bleeder, brake pedal goes to the floor, then close bleeder.
Have the person inside the car, release the pedal, then again, pump three times and hold.
Open the bleeder again.
REPEAT till there is no air, you don't need VCDS to bleed brakes.

This is how every shop will bleed your brakes, PERIOD.

I have bled every single brake system this way, Audi, Porsche, and BMW included.

There is no need for VCDS, if you have at least a TEN year old that can
understand directions.

But, if you must, I found this:

[Go!]

Once you hit GO! the screen says to depress pedal and hold
You have to press the pedal HARD. Seriously, pound the pedal like you're about to drive over a cliff. Remember to hold the pedal down!

The pedal will drop, the pump runs briefly, then the pedal comes back up.

Take your foot off the pedal.

I think it wants you to click on OK at this point.

The screen says something like FR/FL bleed screw OPEN.

Open both front bleed screws. Obviously, on each bleed screw you'll have some tubing going from the bleeder into a catch jar.

Click on OK (or DONE or something like that).

Pump runs for 10 seconds, pushing fluid out of the bleeders into your catch jars.

Screen says something like: Depr. pedal 10X; bleed screw CLOSED

Depress pedal firmly 10 times, then close both bleed screws.

Click OK.

You'll get sent back to the depress pedal and hold screen and repeat the cycle. It goes on for like 10 or 15 cycles. I never got a finished message, I just did it until the screen said N/A.

It is easier with two people. One in the car pressing the pedal and working Vag-Com, the other outside opening and closing bleeders and making sure the master cylinder doesn't run dry (very important!).
If you're doing this solo, put the laptop on the driver's side roof so you can access it easier. It's also a great workout as you run in and out and around the car.
After the ABS pump is bled, you can then bleed the rest of the system as normal.

Please explain why there is "No Need for a VCDS."

The VCDS is actuating the ABS pump. In my case, the ABS pump has run dry because the car was in an accident and it broke one of the calipers.

I did this process on a Jetta GLI that had a brake caliper/line completely ripped off in an accident. The pedal didn't get firm UNTIL the VCDS bleed was done. Again, when there is air in the ABS pump, your pedal will not get firm until a VCDS bleed is done. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

The procedure that you've outlined is not the same on a 2015 S3. There is a much longer menu with several other options. The procedure DID match that of my 2013 Jetta GLI.

Ok I'm back. I've pressure bled done everything, it doesn't work, this process needs to be done. The workshop manual I have even says if the pump runs dry you'll need to perform this. That version of VCDS that they want me to use isn't compatible with my cable.

same problem

I have the same problem, the same windows show up for me (no "Group" windows").
If I have to enter a security code for access, I have no idea what it could be.

When I try to do the output tests, I get "This output is not supported by control module".

Any resolution or information?
