Lets have a sticky thread for tweaks all in one place.

OK...This are the ones I've done and they worked!! :) I think most are from the European forums too so you might have seen some or all or them already, but it would be nice to have a master list here on vortex too

Xenon Range...
55-Xenon Range
Uncheck the box in coding that says North American Region Rules. This enabled me to have tourist mode capability (doesn't activate it) and takes off the restriction of 4 lights on at once.
The Xenon Range controller from NAR to RoW made an interesting change. The headlights will raise ever so slightly at faster speeds which, at least from what I remember, they do not in NAR format.

I have been searching in VCDS for a “setting” which have to do with battery status and S/S functionality. This is what I have found:

19 CAN Gateway - 10 Adaptation

Channel: Start_stop_voltage_limit value 7.6 v changed to 12 v

The value 7.6 v is a value far to low to run a car so I don’t think this is a voltage value, more a “scaled” value perhaps some type of percentage.

I have tested it with the value 10 v and the car run okay without any engine stops when I stopped the car for red lights and smaller traffic jams. After this exercise I changed the value to 12 v. (Highest acceptable value is 12.1). Then it was time for new tests and the outcome was good. The “A” symbol “over lined” was shown in the MFD when the car wasn’t moving as expected during both tests.

This is the only setting at the moment I have changed (regarding S/S), nothing else.

I did also run an error scan this evening, no errors found connected to this change.

You must be aware of that you have to test the change on your own risk, I haven’t verified if you can or should do this change with anyone…. It’s just a homemade conclusion – no warranty!

Here is another tweak for running your blinkers as parking lights. It's different from the other 2 here. I did this today and it worked but I'm not sure about the melting bulb thing. I work from home and usually don't drive long distances.

I am now 100% sure that the valves stay open when you uncheck 'Exhaust valves installed'. I rechecked it yesterday to see the difference since I have been running around with it unchecked, the car was super quiet...
Thanks for confirming this. Since I turned off the Soundaktor, the car is a bit "quiet". May try this to compensate.

I'm just trying to figure out if I need the full blown version to do the mods here?
Which "full-blown" version? I have the HEX+CAN (costs $349 from Ross-Tech). Can do any of these mods. I agree the Ross-Tech site can be a bit confusing in recommending which one you need; for the extra $100 I'd get the HEX+CAN and call it a day. It can do everything.

#21 ·
did the exhaust flaps open mod. The car was way too loud in the 1000-2500rpm range -- it gives the car a deep tone when going through (especially down) that rev range. It got really annoying after a day and I switched it back. For those of you who do want that much noise though - it works really well.

Cheers

I did not have this exact same line for the left headlight. Mine read:

I set it to zero and it worked -- so for some reason, we have a different controller line/name/tag/whatever.

I wanted to take a minute and share my favorite VCDS tweak so far. I have only seen a reference to it on one German website (stemei.de), and it appears to be unknown in the English world.

The tweak allows cars equipped with KESSY to automatically lock when the doors or trunk are closed while the key is outside the vehicle -- if the key is inside the vehicle, nothing happens. If you keep the key on your person, you will never have to manually lock or unlock the car again: pulling the door handles will unlock the car, and closing the door or trunk will lock it.

To enable this behavior, do the following:

1. Open the "Access/Start Authorization" controller:

2. Selecting "Coding"

3. Select "Long Coding Helper"

4. Select Byte 2 (the first Byte is Byte 0), and check Bit 4 ("Locking for door slamming active")

5. Exit the Long Coding Helper

6. Click the "Do It!" button

One word of caution: KESSY is based on RFID signals, and not infallible. There are circumstances under which it may incorrectly think that the key is outside the vehicle when it isn't. What this means is that if you leave the key inside the vehicle and close the door, it could potentially lock the vehicle, and not unlock when you pull on the door handle. If have tested this many times (with the key on the driver's seat and the window rolled down), and KESSY always behaved correctly. If you keep the key on your person there is no situation where you could be locked out of your car, the worst that could happen is that KESSY thinks the key is still inside the vehicle, and not lock it -- that has happened to me, but it is rare.

Thanks for the new find -- this is great , will do it tonight!

Tried this tonight but didnt work completely without the addition of 15 leuchte24sl HRA-65 dimming direction EF 24 (minimize)

These are the changes I made to make the signal light go completely off even when the running lights were on. It also adds the same functionality to the inner lights. So the inner lights work the same as the outer, brake light, running light, and signal light. If you just want the outer lights to blink, see the next set of codes.

I accidentally changed these values initially, but I have bi-xenon headlights. I think the original value was 4, and everything seems to be working normally. If anybody happens to be in there could you please double check for me what the default value should be?

I'm bummed that turning off the yellow LEDs in the front lights also disables the LEDs in the center of the middle DRLs. That's one of my favorite design features off the lights, so I think the yellow LEDs are going to be back on tomorrow :(

Have we got a coding solution to disable muting of the stereo while the car is in reverse? I know damn well how close I am to stuff behind me and don't need the stereo muted for the sake of annoying rear-camera beeps. Nothing worse than coming home enjoying a favorite song, and the stereo cuts out during a mad riff as I back into my parking spot.

I figured some stuff out this weekend.

Unfortunately, nothing that's blatantly 'disable opaque overhead sensor background.'

The muting radio during reverse / parking sensor can be disabled. There's a menu item in the CAR SETUP menu (not the radio menu) to disable the radio mute during parking sensor. It's in the same place that you can pick the tones available for front and rear parking sensors. Additionally, it can be set with VCDS.

The adaptations for dimming curve were all unavailable as channels. There are a lot more adaptations available in the radio, however, print screen was being troublesome with a popup menu, so this is what I could get.

If anyone has an ideas on what we could try changing, please feel free to chime in. I'm not sure wtf a trunk monkey is, but I'm pretty sure it should remain locked away.

One of the adaptations I found was to change the speed at which park assist turns off - Switch-off speed for Parking Assist. Automatic is 15kmph, which I assume is in D/S only, wouldn't make much sense to turn off the camera while backing up, even if doing so quickly.

What I plan on changing: Parking assist disable speed to 5 kmph, and disable Vehicle Path Display.

Overlay disable

I was noodling around with this and found that if you uncheck "Optical Parking System (OPS) Active the "overlay" goes away and you only get the camera view. Now if I could just get rid of those annoying tones...
