i have been getting a ratle/vibrating sound from my engine when ever i let the clutch out or give it some gas....sounds like metal vibrating on metal. (its not clutch chatter) I think it might be a heat sheild but not sure?

not sure if i am experiencing the same thing as u, but whenever i accelerate from low RPMS it sounds like an old man moaning, just started couple weeks ago.

Does this go with the speed of the motor, or the speed of the car.
If it is with the speed of the car, I'd say it would be a wheel bearing.

As far as the rattling, heat shield?

i know the wheel bearing sound (left one is gonna need replaced soon now). my noise is coming from center, close to the dash.

I can't tell from your sig line if you have a 1.8t or not. For the 1.8t, if this noise is really like a groaning or faint wheezing noise at low RPMs and goes away over 2000 (when you're boosting), sounds like it could be a vacuum leak.
