With Volkswagen participating in so many forms of Motorsport around the world, it’s often difficult to keep track of their performance. Luckily for us, Volkswagen Motorsport goes through the trouble of rounding up all of the key information from their various race series, and puts it all in one press release. Let’s get started.

ADAC GT Masters

Volkswagen junior van der Linde returns to the top of the table

Kelvin van der Linde (ZA) has regained the lead in the overall standings after the sixth race weekend of the ADAC GT Masters at the Nürburgring (D). The Volkswagen junior, overall winner of the Volkswagen Scirocco R-Cup in 2013, finished in sixth place alongside his team-mate René Rast (D) in the Audi R8 LMS ultra in the first race on Saturday; in the second race on Sunday afternoon, the 18-year-old finished in second place after an eventful race with plenty of overtaking manoeuvres. Van der Linde/Rast have 155 points to their name, with two events left to go. They are followed by Jaap van Lagen (NL) with 152 points, the former front runners Claudia Hürtgen/Dominik Baumann (D/D) are in third place with 136 points. The next two races in the ADAC GT Masters will take place between 19 and 21 September at the Sachsenring.

On the 3.629-kilometre alternative circuit at the Nürburgring, the driver from the Lotus team won races one and three in his Dallara Volkswagen. Nicolai Sylvest from Denmark won race two. This was the Danish driver from the JBR Motorsport & Engineering team's first victory in the Formula 3 “national league” - and that was starting from sixth place. In the drivers' standings Pommer now leads with 278 points, ahead of Nabil Jeffri (MAL/192) and Indy Dontje (NL/165), who also picked up valuable championship points at the Nürburgring. The next race in the ATS Formula 3 Cup will take place from 12 to 14 September at the Lausitzring.

In the first race, the 20-year-old crossed the finish line ahead of Marvin Dienst (D) and Joel Eriksson (S). In the second race there were only Germans on the podium: Dienst won ahead of Ralph Boschung and Maximilian Günther. In the third race on Sunday afternoon it was all about Jensen once again: The Dane won ahead of the two Germans Tim Zimmermann and Günther. In the championship Jensen leads with 272 points and two events to go, followed by Günther (201) and Dienst (171). British Formula 3 Championship

Li Zhi Cong misses out on the podium in Brands Hatch

Li Zhi Cong (CN) missed out on the podium at the seventh race weekend of the British Formula 3 Championship in Brands Hatch (GB). The Carlin driver “powered by Volkswagen” finished on the podium twice two weeks earlier at the high-speed track in Thruxton. However, in Brands Hatch Cong didn't manage to do better than position seven and six, in the final race he was forced to retire his fast car early. Santino Ferrucci (USA) won the first and third race of the weekend on his debut in the British Formula 3 Championship. Overall leader Martin Cao (CN) defended his championship lead successfully at the tradition-steeped track. He was unbeatable in race two. The last three races of the season will take place at Donington Park (GB) on 13 and 14 September.

Volkswagen Racing Cup Great Britain

Sutton celebrates double victory – Fulbrook leads the championship

David Sutton (GB) won both races at Brands Hatch in the Volkswagen Racing Cup Great Britain. In the second race on Sunday evening, the driver won in his Scirocco ahead of Lucas Orrock (GB) Joe Fulbrook (GB) secured third place in his Golf, and with this the lead in the championship. Sutton also won the first race on Saturday. After a bad start he lost his pole position, but regained the lead. Jack Walker-Tully (GB) crossed the line second in the Scirocco, ahead of James Greenway (GB). With two races to go, Fulbrook leads the overall standings with a six point lead over Orrock.

Formula Volkswagen South Africa

Wolk celebrates double victory in Zwartkops

Robert Wolk (ZA) celebrated a double victory at the Formula Volkswagen South Africa race weekend in Zwartkops. After the South African drove the best time in qualifying on Saturday he was moved down into the last place on the grid for the first race because he changed his engine. However, Wolk chased strongly in race one and benefitted from a safety car period after a collision between Jason Campos (ZA) and Werner Scholtz (ZA). Wolk won the first race in Zwartkops, ahead of his arch rivals Nicholas van Weely (ZA) and Matthew Merton (ZA), who was delighted with his first podium finish of the season. After race two the podium saw only one change: Wolk won again, followed by van Weely, Werner Scholtz (ZA) was third.

Engen Volkswagen Cup South Africa

Van der Linde takes the lead in the championship

Just 15 years of age, Sheldon van der Linde (ZA) took the lead in the championship in the Engen Volkswagen Cup after two second places in Zwartkops. The younger brother of Kelvin van der Linde (ZA), who drives in the ADAC GT Masters, was beaten by Dewald Brummer (ZA) in both races. After race one, Van der Linde trailed Brummer by 0.207 seconds. Race two was almost as close: Brummer was 0.461 seconds faster. Daniel Rowe (ZA), who led the championship up to that point, couldn't do better than fourth and fifth place. This sees him move down to second in the overall standings, behind van der Linde and with the same number of points as two-time winner Brummer. Despite this, Juan Gerber (ZA) was awarded 'Driver of the Weekend': Finishing in fifth and sixth he had his best results of the season to date.
