Loose bolts holding some high-pressure tubing in Jettas from model years 2016 through 2018 can come loose, causing a fuel leak and increasing the risk of fire.

Volkswagen has not yet figured out how it will fix the problem but does know that the problem is limited to Jettas that use the 1.4-liter engine built between June 18, 2015 and December 9, 2017.

We have not yet heard of any fire, but an unspecified number of customers have returned their cars to dealers complaining of a fuel door coming from the engine compartment. Volkswagen says it is not aware of any injuries resulting from this recall.

Volkswagen expects to start notifying customers around December 20.
