Switzerland is famous for a number of reasons. They have, I’m told, some lovely mountains, some excellent chocolate, and they're unwilling to participate in European politics. What they aren’t known for, however, is fast cars.

The poet Clarkson once said that no country is more hostile to automobiles than Switzerland, but that might be changing thanks to Volkswagen’s Swiss importer.

Fun fact: 15% of all Golfs registered in Switzerland are Golf Rs.

Aware of this fact, and aware of the fact that Volkswagen isn’t really interested in giving the Golf R more power at this particular point in time, the company that imports VWs into Switzerland (AMAG) decided to take matters into its own hands.

AMAG contacted ABT Sportsline in Germany and asked them to breath on the engine, while they got the sticker machine warmed up.

The result is the Golf R360S, a 360hp salute to the Swiss people, who apparently have excellent taste in cars.

As mentioned, the R360S has in excess of 60 more hp than the normal Golf R, about 340 lb-ft of torque, and can get to 60 mph in just 4.7 seconds. The Swiss-exclusive model comes in both four-door and wagon, but only 220 will be built (55 wagons).

And because it’s Swiss, AMAG is also offering a Golf R themed watch.

The R360S will cost 55,200 Swiss units of currency ($56,968).
