Eversince the squarish Volvos disappeared and were replaced by the current styles, I lost interest. They aren't ugly overall, but I hate the details like the front fascias and rear lights that creep up the trunk. The lower intakes are especially lost in lack of originality.
This ONE, however, is nice. Like last year's hatch concept, this one's got rear lights that fit well with the design. The front speaks Volvo in a rugged, yet simple and uncluttered manner. The proportions are handsome along with the wheel size.
Wow, a scoop from the Vortex! First pictures I've seen of this thing. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
Can't say I really want one though. Looks like a taller version of the V70 XC (or whatever it's called now). Any details on the engine?
The headlights look quite BMW-ish. Actually make that Bangle-ish. The rear is much more successful than the front IMO, and the general proportions make it look very tall (but may be that's the intention anyway). Wonder what the interior looks like.
Nothing new. Just that same new Volvo design once again. Looks like a lifted&swollen (or Photoshopped) V70.
I wonder why they have both V70 XC and this... http://****************.com/smile/emthdown.gif
Oh come on, there are many other cars on the market that look much more similar to other cars from the same manufacturer:
the new Polo (from the front like the Lupo, from the back like the Golf)
the Audi TT (an ironed New Beetle)
the Golf/Bora Variant (absolutely no difference apart from the headlights)
the Skoda Superb (Passat + 10cm)
the BMW 3 (smaller BMW 5)
the Audi A4 (smaller Audi A6)
the Mercedes C (smaller Mercedes S)
and many other more (I admit, even the S60 has some similarities with the S80). But without having seen the XC90 in reality, I wouldn't post such a message.
quote:

Hopefully, this one has an AWD system that works. The V70 XC's is pretty pathetic.

I wonder if it will use the Haldex system, a la the Volvo S60 AWD?
Strangley enough, I like it. I think it looks more attractice than the XC, but I just don't "get" SUV-ified station wagons like the Outback and XC anyways. Give me a GT or T5 instead.
I think it will be a winner. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
The article on Swedespeed mentions that gas and diesel inline fives will also be available, but I assume not in North America.
Did anyone else not see this one coming? I didn't even know Volvo was coming out with a larger wagon/ute this soon.
