VR6 - question
Is the VR6 a valve safe motor? And if it is a valve safe motor it seems that the cam or the crank gear is stripped. the car cranks and the crankshaft moves but the cam doesnt move. What is the easiest repair? Take off oil pan, take off tranny or take out motor?

I'm not sure what you mean by "valve safe". But, if your asking whether or not it's possible for the valves to make contact with the pistons if things are not right...the answer is YES. So, if you have a stripped cam gear or crank gear, then refrain from turning the engine over. Easiest way to fix is probably to pull the whole engine out. It CAN be done with the engine in the car, but working space is limited/cramped.
Re: VR6 question posted below (assumed1)

it could be many things, one or both of the timing chains could be broken, one of the sprockets could be broken. you will have to rip apart the motor to find out.

and no it's not a cheap or easy fix and no the vr6 is not "valve safe"
