Re: vr6 swap (a747ba)

Assuming your thinking of dropping a VR6 in a G60?.. Pain in the arse for the results. Do yourself a favor and drop it a 1.8T instead, easier, cheaper, with more power and opportunity for upgrades when it's in and running.

How exactly is it Cheaper?
Re: vr6 swap (Corrado4Life)

The front end parts for the VR6 swap in a Corrado are difficult to come by and are very expensive from the dealer. The cost of the rad support, suspension, subframe, motor mounts, and VR6 "buldged" hood add up quick. With the 1.8T the stock G60 1.8 pieces can be used. Niether swap is cheap by any means, but IMHO the 1.8T is the clear choice. Buy a motor and ECU from the boneyard without the KO3, get a KO4 and GIAC chip and you'll outrun even highly modified N/A VR6s all day.

Yaa, 225 hp would be very cool. I wish that the dam engine wouldn't cost so much though. What is the current asking price for a 1.8 T motor + ECU?

Re: vr6 swap (Patmsb)

Engine prices depend on mileage and accerories, etc.
A VR6 with 60K on the clock should run around $1,100 without all the accesories (A/C, alternator, powersteering pump, waterpump, etc) with all the goodies it's around $3,500.
A 1.8T with the same is around $3,500 as well, cheaper if you don't want the stock turbo. Call some local boneyards and ask.
