Don’t cry for Argentina, because they’ve finally gotten the Mk7 GTI. The first models hit the market late in March, and to announce that to the country they commissioned a commercial that would highlight the speed and excitement of the car.

The result was a 100m set lined with people partaking in all manner of unlikely activity, that the GTI would pass by in three seconds. Thanks to a slow motion camera, all the action would be captured in its elegant, accidentally-renaissance glory with the tag line “3 seconds is a long time for a Golf GTI.”

Since then all of the GTIs in Argentina have sold out, showing once and for all how good Argentine taste is.

This video shows the making of the ad, and suggests that the stunt was actually completed without many special effects or tricks—just some good ol’ fashion timing and planning.
