Has anyone else had difficulty with getting repairs covered and/or finding out exactly what should be covered? VW customer service refuses to provide me with a specific list of covered items and services, and the written warranty language paints only with a very broad brush. The customer must rely on the serviceperson to get the correct information for them and not be "mistaken". I had a strange experience in that something first was not, then was, again was not and finally was deemed to be covered, and it left me feeling uneasey about the administration of this warranty program.

Re: vw certified pre-owned warranties (julie)

That's exactly why finding a dealer certified VW wasn't high on my list. Given VW's bad reputation for warranty / dealer service, it would only be natural for the same to be true with this. It's unfortunate that dealers charge a premium for thie certification, then do not honor it to the best of their abilities.
The only thing I can recommend would be to try another dealer. Demand in writing the terms for the warranty. They should be required to give you this.
Hopefully, this won't spoil your opinion of the car though... Good luck! http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Just out of curiosity, what dealership are you going to? I have been looking to buy a car for some time, but I would like to go to a dealershp that I won't have problems with (like that'll happen...). I have been to Suburban VW in Troy, and while I was looking at a GTI, a customer was in the service department argueing with an employee about his warranty. From what I've read, it may be hard to get anything accomplished as to warranty related issues from VW dealers.
I hope everything works out foy ya.

Re: vw certified pre-owned warranties (droolingoverdubs)

We bought the car from Vyletel in Sterling Heights - salesperson Paul Loshaw: very good guy, and his brother works in service there and was the only one to explain to me in real language the reason why the dealers can't give me the list of what's covered (they can only find out part by part, by punching a code number into the computer). At Suburban, Chris Engler was very helpful with a service issue also related to the warranty. The place I had the "strange" experience with was a dealer in Farmington. Don't want to say it was deliberate on their part, just strange enough to make me queasy. VW Customer Svc. was involved, kind of a 3-way discussion and the story just kept changing.
