Re: vw goes i-drive (haydar)

I can see there are more than 70 buttons/switches/dials in the cockpit.
A very stupid idea. http://****************.com/smile/emthdown.gif

It does look easier. Probably because there are more buttons, so not everything is integrated into the LCD.

I still can't warm up to the Phaeton's interior. The exterior is fine - nothing daring, nothing offensive. But man, that interior... wood and buttons are nice, but IMO there's too much wood and too many buttons. Is the damn thing meant to be driven, or parked in a driveway and played with?

Re: vw goes i-drive (what)

You can make out at the trunk of the Phaeton without hitting both heads thanks to uninstrusive trunk hinges.

the interior looks really luxurious, but it also looks really dated... way too many buttons, i prefer the 740's interior as far as looks go.

The local mags here prefered the Phaeton´s system over BMW´s I-Drive. It should be a lot more inituitive to use.

The big difference between i-drive and the Phaeton's central control system is that the Phaeton's system works more like an ATM, where a menu pops up, and you match up the button next to the appropriate choice...in i-drive you have to scroll through the whole menu.

The car is so big, VW couldn't decide what to do with the extra space

When will the Germans realize that they just don't know how to make wood look good in a car...that looks so damned awful it's unbelievable.
