I have noticed something. Every time I look at car reviews wether its from Road &Track or Car & Driver all VW's are under powered. The 24v VR6 has 200hp, the 1.8t 180hp, and the ultimate R32 240HP. Stock numbers are all low. we are just talking stock so u 1.8T guys don't get excited!
Why doesn't VW wake up and raise the Hp figures slightly. The R32 with 240hp is no match for an Sti Subaru in the performance area atleast straight line acceleration. The 24v motor with 200hp compared to Nissan's 240 HP Altima 3.5. Unfortunately Horsepower sells cars in todays world and then durability. So a vw may be a great car but to many people they are under powered. I love my Gti VR6 but without modding our cars we have a problem with hp numbers, my vr put 188hp to the wheels on the dyno without cams, that I have now done but its still not powerful enough at the line. Again I must remind myself stock for stock we are all effected. When the 200hp Mini Cooper Works comes out I may have ideas to move to the BMW side of the German crew, just an idea
by the way I still love my Dub http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Re: vw horsepower? (GTIRS)

Corporate VW doesn't care about hp #'s! All they care about is $ and the "driver experience." http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif Read the "GLI -vs- Mazda 6 post. Here is the final verdict based on the GLi -vs- Nissan Sentra Se -vs- Mazday 6:
"Compared to the Altima and Mazda 6, the Jetta feels trimmer and offers far less room and comfort for rear-seat passengers. But crank that 200-horse VR6, grab first gear, and the GLI becomes a virtual two-seat sports car on a dream drive. If thrown the keys to all three of these clutch players, the Jetta GLI is the one I'd be making time in." --Ron Sessions
