The Volkswagen Group of America Foundation has donated $150,000 to the American Red Cross to support relief efforts in Texas and other Gulf Coast states in the wake of Hurricane Harvey.

Floods following the hurricane have caused widespread damage and were responsible for a number of deaths. With rescue and relief efforts ongoing, the donation will go to providing food, shelter, healthcare, and other assistance to families affected by the storm.

Volkswagen is also matching donations that its employees make to the Red Cross and other charities providing relief in the wake of Hurricane Harvey.

“With this donation, VWGoA is helping the American Red Cross provide some relief to those who have been affected by this devastating storm,” said David Geanacopoulos, Senior Executive VP for Public Affairs and Public Policy. “We extend our thoughts and concern to all of those affected, including our employees, dealers and their families living and working in the impacted areas. We remain in constant contact with our teams in the area and will continue to support them as they work to rebuild their communities.”
