Here are photos from the VW TDI CUP inaugural race held this weekend at the VIR (Virginia International Raceway)
If you wana see all and pics from the Rolex Series Race (which was kick @ss) go to my albums…….
I was there. I cruised down from Herndon to the track and got to park my GLI in front of the VW Tech Center. Pretty Sweet. It was an absolutely amazing time.
Yes, they do have R8 brakes in the front and they are huge. After this weekend, I am in love with the Thunder Bunny kit.
ya know.. the mk5 jetta wouldn't look half bad if it looked more like these do... minus the decals and roll cages of course.. it's amazing what a new front end, lil bit of drop, and some nice wheels'll do
looks and sounds like it was a really good time. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
there's an apex in this picture. it's a shame neither of these guys was anywhere near it:

correct! my bitterness blinded me to the black car that is darn close to the second
i hear the n00bs were turning 2:14s. all those extra goodies and only ~11 seconds faster than a stock GTI
11 seconds is a mighty long time on VIR Full, my friend! And James would probably call that the "racing line" or some other hoo-ha like when he won't listen to me about the outside of 5 on SP Main. Any time you can make a straight a little longer is more time on the go pedal!
I've got to give the TDI Cup guys props though. For the majority, I'll imagine that was their first taste of VIR other than any in-car videos some might have ate up. Looking at some of those pics I'm not surprised a bead or three went 'pop' on those 18" wheels. Hitting Oak Tree hard enough to bicycle out is one close shave!
