Re: W8 arrives in DC (pkunda)

If I was gonna plunk down 40 grand, I would probably buy one. It's striking, especially from behind with the 4 exhaust outlets. But where would I get 40 grand from? http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Yeah, I'm debating on trading my 2001.5 in for one. It honestly depends on if they can get me a Black-on-Black. Waiting to hear back from StohlmanVW and my crew at AlexandriaVW today.

Re: W8 arrives in DC (The Swami)

Drove one here in NC and not really impressed. Not a real strong pull off of the line and there is not enough differentiation from the other Passats.
PS...Try a hard brake from about 60-70 mph. Kind of scary!
Other than that...solid ride!

Re: W8 arrives in DC (GotKids)

what amazes me is that you are trying to decide on a car that hasn't been broken in yet.
Brakes, tires need 500 miles or so before they are broken in... otherwise they are still "tight"
engine usually takes 16 K miles before it is "really" broken in... otherwise it is "relatively" tight.

Re: W8 arrives in DC (GotKids)

I haven't gotten to drive it yet. Can't speak for other regions, but our Technicians here are in a class about the W8 today and tomorrow, so It won't be ready until Wednesday. As for this area, the truck that delivered mine had about 10 on it going to various DC area dealers.
I'm unimpressed by the fact that it has a donut spare! http://****************.com/smile/emthdown.gif

I found that to be pretty weird. Looks like VW Credit just listed the GLX with no difference between V6 and W8. Seems to me like they should be very different. Makes for a pretty expensive VW payment.
