Here is a link to a MKV DIY. http://www.golfmkv.com/forums/showthread.php?p=2022152 Look at post 7. Same principle on the MKVI, though ours does not have the center festoon bulb just the two 194/W5W wedge bulbs. The rear console just pops off. Pull straight down and you can replace the 3 bulbs. A plastic trim removal tool helps.

Just replaced the 2 front map lights and the 3 in the back roof for the passengers. All 5 are 194/W5W wedge incandescent. Bought these LEDS from: http://www.ledwholesalers.com/store/...&productId=337 Perfect white light, no errors or faults. Big improvement over the yellowish stock bulbs. BTW, the site is jacked, unable to finish my original order due to shipping error. My original order was placed on their EBAY site, but there they charged an extra $1 per LED. Called them today and they are going to fix the site. LEDS were delivered quickly and w/o issues.
