My 2001 Golf has a WAXY looking goo under doors??? what is it? It seems to be a yellow type of wax or grease that drips out from the doors and puddles on the door sills. I know this sounds strange but it really is happening. It started when the weather got to 90 degrees and has stayed there for about 3 weeks. I wash it off and 5 days later its back. Any ideas? thanks.

I may spell it wrong but it's kosmoline that is dripping from your doors. It's sprayed everywhere on your car under the fender wells inside door panels engine compartment for rust proofing. Not to worry it will continue to drip from your car for years, especially when it hot out. My car is 2 years old and still drips on hot days and we have had plenty of them.

Any degreaser like simple green will do. You can can probably just wipe it off when it's hot it's just gooey. When it cools down it's like candle wax.

I wouldn't use Simple Green ifyou like your car - there's a reason the US Air Force has said that Simple Green will never touch one of their planes again - it isn't the best thing to use on a car with a finish that you really care about - but if not - go ahead and use it - I have the same problem - mine's a 2000 - but down here in Texas it's above 90 degrees like 10 months out of the year so it never goes away... http://****************.com/smile/emthdown.gif

First of all, that stuff is NOT Cosmoline!!!

Cosmoline has not been used to protect consumer vehicles when shipping other than some Skoda's and Lada's since before the Korean War.
That stuff you are seeing is the rust preventative, (cavatity wax) applied at the factory.
Anyone who lives in areas where they apply salt to the roads in the winter, should not attempt to remove all of it from the doors hemge flange area, (the seams of the doors, etc)
The reason being, that if the door hits a curb with that area, the cavatity wax will move into the void area and not allow it to corrode.
Cavatity wax is still used, even though the ecoat technology has been used for years, manufacturers found that there is no substitute for the protection it provides.
