[Got GTI]

I am undecided between weitec and H&R Cup Kit...which do you guys prefer for 2001 MK4 GTI 1.8T i want around 1.5" to 2.0" drop

They're both very good kits.
H&R, Weitec, & even Vogtland all make fantastic kits.
The nice thing with the Vogtlands is that they offer adjustable dampening for around the same price as the other kits.

I just installed my weitec 40/40 this weekend......rides like crap!!! At slow speeds (20-40 mph) on rough roads It feels like I am in a rice rocket that someone cut the springs on and slammed it to the ground. It's not a big bounce really, kind of like trying to carry on a conversation while someone is hitting you in chest. At faster speeds and smooth roads seem great, the drop is perfect also. I am not happy overall, so any info from anyone would be helpfull to me also.

I also would love to know as I am in the same boat (h&R vs. Weitec) I am on a very tight budget but want a quality setup. I am leaning towards H&R but the price on a weitec kit is a whole lot cheaper. If some one can tell me wether weitec is quality or not I would definately apreciate it. thanks

thats definitely your problem, cutting bump stops is easy but a pain in the ass. you have to dis assemble everything and what i did was measure the drop and cut down off the bump stop. so you would cut 40mm off. not sure if this is the proper way or not but i haven't had a problem. good luck

Yup, its that simple. You're probably slamming the bumpstops on every small bump in the road, making the ride seem rough as hell.
I cant remember exactly, but I think I cut 2 notches off the front, 1 notch off the back. But that may be backwards. I may have cut 1 off the front and 2 off the rear..
This was on a WeitecGT 60/40 too.

sorry, kinda a noob. but where and what are the bumpstops? i have weitec 40/40 on my 95 GTi and the ride seems bad sometimes.
