Hi Guys
Just had a great journey home.
Came across a Audi 225TT and a toyota Celica VVTI (new shape) on the motorway and we blasted for about for about 40 miles.
I wont tell you the speeds (just in case of prying eyes- call it my big brother paranoia) but Very quick lets just say quicker than mannys speedo at the ring!!
They couldnt believe I was in a skoda and able to keep up, but I now know its gotta be chipped so next time I can lead. Oh and to the Modded escort that tried to keep up - never mind

So Ian looks like you convinced me to use Jabbasport, just gotta get it booked in
Bye

Re: WHAT A BLAST (Karl RS)

Hey Karl,
I know what you mean. After reading about young Cooke's chipping exploits, I can't sit on the fence anymore!

After a bit of thought, I'm going with Superchips, for two reasons:
1. Jon's car is Superchipped and he seems very happy with it. Also, they too only run conservative boost.
2. They definitely now offer a warranty that takes away the old , " what happens if my chip causes the turbo to blow up? " type paranoia. They've been talking about it for a while, but now its on their website. I spoke to them and basically, if a fault occurs that has been deemed to be caused by the chip, Superchips warranty will cover it. The best thing is that the issue is decided by an independent engineer, so less likely to get a situation where no-one takes responsibility.
More expensive than Jabbasport at £350+vat at Camco 88 in Warrington, which is meant to be quite a reputable place. Spoke to the guy there and he was really helpful and seemed to know what he was on about.
So, the only thing is getting the finances together. At present I'm moving house and have a number of very expensive exams to sit so it may have to wait, although I don't think I'll be waiting too long

Bring on the TT bashing

Cheers.

Re: WHAT A BLAST (Huck_B)

Whilst I'm sticking with my Subaru for now, I did very almost buy one, so followed up the tuning side.
Jabbasport (Michael) are currently booking 6 weeks ahead and AMD (Audi VW experts) are booking for early September.
AMD have an excellent reputation, but I like the idea of the module on Jabbasports which you can vary between modified and standard boost on the road, plus switch it back to normal for servicing.
I'll probably have a rethink in 6 months time and buy one...

Re: WHAT A BLAST (Karl RS)

Yea Karl go on get it chipped you know it makes sense (8 out of 10 RS owners when quizzed agreed that chipping their car made them smile a lot) and I whole-heartedly agree about the TT bashing!!!

But I drive a Skoda!
Sorry, couldn't resist, especially as my feelings are well know by some of you!

If I was doing it all again, I would do the following:
Chip - Either Superchip or Jabba
Suspension - Leda

Exhaust - Custom made rather than Milltek
Brakes - AP

Re: WHAT A BLAST (TaviaRS)

OK Guys
Its decided I will have the Jabbasport chip - do they offer warranty?
Just gotta get some money together and book it in before Christmas
Can they set up suspension? - want to run About 2 degress of Neg camber , rather than fiddle with suspension just so I cam lean on the car a bit more through the bends!

And hopefully take Jons discs when he changes them - For the right price Jon

Take care

Re: WHAT A BLAST (Karl RS)

Hi,
Also decided to go for Jabbasprt, spoke to Mike and the car is sufficiently run in (3000 to 4000 miles) and has booked me in for the 19th.

How will it affect my insurance? How will I get insurance if I don't know what Bhp I am going to have? Does this matter (not insurance
) the Bhp?
Has anybody got the switchable module fitted?

Re: WHAT A BLAST (screid)

Karl, most places can set up your suspension. Go to one with the laser alignment and they should be able to do it. Camber is a bit of a bu99er to adjust as you are supposed to fit new stretch bolts (to adjust camber you need to shift the subframe). Some companies (based in Bicester, mentioning no names
) will adjust it fo you but just loosen, shift then re-torque the existing bolts. I've had mine done twice by the un-named company and have now shredded o/s front tyres due to camber being of 'cos of bolt working loose.
Not their fault of course! Cost me 2 new front tyres!

Screid, you should tell them that you have had it chipped. I have, made about £50 a year difference to the premium. Most work on a sliding scale 1-10% increase, 11-20%, and so on with premiums varying with the increase. Went for the 11-20% increase
Ok they know it is chipped but how much extra power?
