has been like that since i got it. do you think i should replace it? my airbag light isn't on or anything. no codes come up when i run a scan... someone else suggested maybe it popped and was resealed with heat? if that were the case wouldn't the airbag light be on letting me know there's no airbag in it?
The picture shown is one that had been punched out hard and opened up at the break lines your appears to be hit but not as hard as to open it up, if it does not bother you that much leave it alone or search for a replacement at your own leisure.

They use to sell just the airbag replacement covers I bought one way back when and just recently used it, not because my airbag break lines were starting to show but because the emblem started to show excessive wear from years of cleaning. If anyone knows where you can find one post it.

Don't know. I honestly wished I had bought a bunch of them while they were available. Can't stockpile everything though. Think there was a show about that......hoarders or something.

the real questions seems to be does my steering wheel have a balancing weight in it or not? i guess which airbag is dependent on that variable.

i don't think it does based on what i gleaned from the dealership but i'm not 100 percent sure.

PRCode: 1Q1 = Mass damper for steering wheel 26.5Hz Still don't know what that is.

The dealer should be able to tell you based on your VIN if the car was built with PR 1Q1 or not, I am not sure you will find this info on the PR label on the trunk floor or owners manual warranty booklet but you can check for it. I have found PR 1Q0 =Without mass damper for steering wheel on my PR list, this list is about 8 pages long but is not listed on the trunk label or label placed in the owners manual. See if the dealer will print out the complete PR list for your car based on the VIN.

like most things in my life... this is turning into a nightmare. but the way things go in my world... my guess is that indeed the bag was compromised at some point and someone jury rigged it shut with a heat gun and the seams are starting to fail... a normal person would just go get it fixed. but b/c of my situation... new parts are not feasible. i have to get used parts. and now it's like i have to roll the dice and hope i get lucky. lol. i have the worst luck on earth. confidence is low.

i actually called the dealer today. they were not helpful. they said they can't tell from the vin which air bag i have and then they were like bring it in will replace it for $900 bucks. if i had a $900 bucks i wouldn't be driving an 07 VW.

sigh

Climatic to Climatronic (mk5 jetta w/mk6 bcm)

All it took was a climatronic face (free), a climatronic blower/ctrl unit (20$) and a PQ35 Climatic-2-Climatronic harness on aliexpress (30$?).

Gotta love u-pick junkyards!

(only thing that doesnt work atm is the dual zone I have to change the distro box to a dual flap motor one. yes, sunlight and air quality sensor both work :) )

I suggest going to the dealer and talking with the parts people about printing out the PR list for you. If not there is another option but it is not free and will cost about $30.

"A PR code is a production code given to each piece of equipment installed in your vehicle and is used by manufacturers including VW, Audi, Seat, and Skoda. PR Codes contain three characters comprising of letters and numbers."

You can find some of the PR codes on the label in the trunk floor or owners manual if they stuck one in there. It will look like this

Font Rectangle Paper Number Paper product

Unfortunately that label does not contain the complete PR for the build of the car, like I said I have an eight page list of PR codes while the PR label only has about a page worth of info. First page of the list

Font Number Parallel Pattern Rectangle

And part of page 2 that show I have PR1Q0 without mass damper for steering wheel that does not appear on the label on trunk floor.
