What did you people think of the a2 compared to the Merkur XR4Ti, Comments? what did you guys think of em ?rwd,turbo,euro assembled i believe

I don't drive an A2, but I love the Merkurs. I'm constantly looking for a good 5 speed one for sale near me.

Xr4ti's can be good fast rides, and the mods are cheap. They have the same engine set up as the Xr7 and turbo Thunderbird. I guess they handle OK, but don't try to replace your A2 with one.....

The XR4ti is a strange bird, but one with lots of potential if you want to dump enough time and money into it...(oh, wait, sounds like some A2's I know, including mine). They can be modded to be very quick and interesting to drive, but they're certainly no e30 BMW (a car they were supposed to compete with).
Good: turbo motors are fairly plentiful, still some tuners out there which do nice things with them. Bad: finding a nice one anymore is getting to be a challenge, and I'd imagine finding OEM parts suppliers for them is a !%[email protected]$. I know someone who has three (1 running, 2 parts) and he says if he tries to go to the stealer for a part they generally deny ever having sold the car in the first place.

I heard parts/service availbility was one of the main reasons of the demise of Merkur in the USA. I actually think the xr4ti is more modern lookin than an e30 especially the las xr4ti'z they imported with bbs look wheel/leather interior.E3O'S have seats like theyre made out of wood I guess I just hate e30'z period lol

only thing good about them is the turbo and rwd.. which is comparing apples to oranges.. merkur is about power, a2 is about character. For me at least..

SVO http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif THERE'S something that you don't see everyday. turbocharged 4 cylinder that's running nearly as well as the 5.0, but doesn't handle like ****e. kind of like the A2 VR6 debate but in Fordland. Actually, it partly was Ford's answer to the increase in German driver's cars i.e. BMW, VW, etc. Anyway, I thought the engine was essentially the same as the t-bird (no connection to your favoriate vortexer) engine? At any rate, it's pretty damn funny to see the engine compartment in these since it's this little 4banger it sits waaaaay back and you could pretty much get into the engine compartment to work on the engine cuz it's made for a V8. The REALLY weird thing is that they are quiet too. Anyway, I'll shut up about the SVO...almost bought one tho
