Re: What do i need for a TT brake conv? (HIDGolf)

If it's anything like what Autotech provides in their kit, you'll mainly need adaptors/brackets and the rotors. I have a set of crossdrilled & slotted TT rotors for sale if you need 'em!

Re: What do i need for a TT brake conv? (gruppe_a)

the kits that i have seen provide TT rotors and carriers for the GTI calipers.
im guessing ill need at least the GTI calipers plus the TT kit.
sorry, im sticking w/ OEM parts to allow for ease of maintance.

Re: What do i need for a TT brake conv? (HIDGolf)

I am also considering the TT brake upgrade for my 2001 GTI VR6.
I'm not a car expert (yet) but is it true that all you need are the rotors and carriers to get the same stopping power as the TT system? I thought you would also need larger calipers and brake lines to apply more force... or are the calipers the same in the two cars?
In any case, this is my plan: move my front brakes to the rear, and upgrade the fronts to TT. Is that feasible and will I still have ABS/traction control?

yes, its the same caliper, but since mines a TDI, i dont have the larger brakes, I think i will have to buy the GTI claipers and the TT kit.

Re: What do i need for a TT brake conv? (BoraTdi)

I was browsing at the dealership today.
'02 Golf GTI's use a bigger front brake set up than on the TDI's and 2.0's.
'02 Jetta VR6's and 1.8T's use the same identical front brake setup as the GTI's.
'02 Passat's are similar if not the same as the GTi's.
'02 Eurovan front brakes look montrous and heavy!
This is only a visual check. (no TT's to scope out)

Re: What do i need for a TT brake conv? (HIDGolf)

passats use the same as A4/A6 etc. the TT has 5*100, just like the rest of VW's. but the MKIV is the only one that uses the same hub as the TT. if you have a III or older, you have a different hub and can't just use the carrier and rotor, even if you have the bigger stock brakes. so you'd need an adapter to take the current whole caliper and put it further out.
