Since I'm used to looking at our Passat wagon, the Jetta wagon looks chopped off. I'm getting used to it though. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

When the time comes - the wagon will be the preferred car for our fam.
Can you chip the 1.8 Jetta Wagons - like the 1.8T GTI's?
That would rock.

When I went to pick up my WE from the dealership I looked at a black wagon that had just been detailed and was waiting for its new owner and almost changed my mind on the spot.
I am single with no kids but I love wagons. The eurowagons are great looking and can be awesome sleepers. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

I own the very car you speak of - Jetta 1.8T Wagon in silver. To answer the questions...
no, it's not sluggish, it's anything but!
yes, you can chip it; an AWP is an AWP regardless of which A4-chassis car it's in.
I couldn't be happier with it. Incidentally, I know this makes no difference in build quality, but the Jetta Wagon is the only NA-spec A4-chassis car still made in Germany. Just a bit of trivia.
I love it - it's practical and it's really unique.

Single no kids, too, and over the years I've had five Quantum wagons (two syncros), a '90 200 TQ Avant, and a '93 Passat GLX wagon. I did some track days with the Passat. The better weight distribution and stiffer rear suspension (as compared to the sedan) helped it handle nicely. One of my instructors, who FWIW had a Corrado SLC, wondered what I had done to the suspension to make it handle so well (nothing!).
I would have gotten a Jetta wagon (or a GTI VR6 with cloth seats) instead of my sedan if they were available at the time. I really like the new Passat wagon, too, but it is a little bulky for my tastes (but I do think it looks better). Also, unlike the Passat, you can get the sport suspension and 17's with the Jetta wagon.
