Sorry for the poor picture quality, I just got my new camera and its already dark. This is my ghetto bunny project, trying to spend as little as possible...
So far the she's got a tilt/slide sunroof, cowl induction (hehehe), early fenders, hacked up 80' grill, eurovan lights, battery relocated to the trunk, and stripped interior. Once all the body work is done, I'll probably just spray her in black primer till I finish everything else. Working on a 2L turbo motor for her.... oh boy.
The wheels are sitting behind it... its awaiting suspension (should be on by next week... I hope). I've got stock snowflakes for now, looking into a couple other options.
The sunroof bolted right in, I used the complete setup (lid, rails, etc) from an early vw quantum. It was origionally electric, but swapped it over to crank to keep with the "light and simple" theme of the car.
I like bunnies... I'm thinking about throwing away my corrado when I'm done with this thing.
Ah, not sure what year, I think it was an 86' or so. As far as I know they're pretty much all the same. I used the existing brackets for the lights, I just had to cut the crap out of them and fab in a few brackets. The wiring was real straight forward too...
Again, sorry for the picture quality... it was dark.
They fit in pretty well, I just need to fab up a cover for the bottom of the grill (where I took the cutting wheel to it).
Compared to the lights on the vanagon parked next to it, they look pretty good.
* Edit * The fenders aren't quite bolted up all the way yet, so they're a little crooked. I still have some body work to do on them. http://****************.com/smile/emthdown.gif
Sirhcorrado,
Looks great!!!!!!
I like it when people take the high road to modding their cars.
I will definitely be waiting patiently for updates to your projcect.
What bore/stroke are you going with??
Are you going to use the VW 16V head, Oettinger/drake?

Woah there! That stuff is expensive!
I picked up an ABA block for $100 (in need of a rebuild), and I'm stuffing it under an 84' GTI 1.8 head. Minor porting and polishing, valve job, head studs, shaved pistons or spacer (we'll see how cheap I'm feeling that week), etc... I've got a turbo diesel setup laying around (along with a K26... maybe a hybrid turbo?), but I may go the T3 route. We'll see. I just ordered all my bearings, rings, etc, so we'll take care of that first.
I'd love to spend under $1000 on this car... I think I've got about $600 into it so far.
I just have to chime in here and give you props on those headlights. I love them, they remind me of the european Scirocco set-up. Is that what gave you the inspiration?
Actually, she was parked next to a vanagon for about a month... thats where the idea came from. Then I saw a picture of a second gen scirocco and said "oh duh."
I was going to do the singe round conversion for the longest time, but I think that round headlights on a square car just doesn't really match (although I know its the way the real german cars were made). It also stemmed from my cheapness, since I could use my old core support (sans a bit of it which I took the cutting wheel to).
hey man I like the lights! Why didnt I think of that?? Haha.
How much work was it? Lemme know because I want something like that on my 83 Jetta
Thanks

It wasn't too bad, just have to clearance the core support, cut the frick out of the light buckets, and fab a few brackets... it was fun.
