a friend of mine painted a valve cover for me, but theres scratches and stuff on it..so i wanna see if i can sand it down to make it smooth and uniform, so i can powdercoat it instead. what kinda of sand paper should i use for this? also plan to powder coat my cai and intake manifold too..

lol the one he made me was scratched and stuff...so im gonna get it powdercoated instead. do you think the powdercoating will hide the scratches?

Talk to the shop that is doing the powder coating. They will give you the skinny on how to best prep the surface. Some require media blasting and they will definitely need degreasing.
Start with a small grit and work towards wet sand superfine grit to smooth the surface.
