Re: What header/ exhaust to buy? (William Robert)

don't expect real gains from an exhaust on an 8V. A header will move power higher in the revs. I reiterate that it will MOVE the power. Power gains are negligeable (sp?). I have a 270 cam, K&N, brospeed header, 2.5in exhaust. Nothing down low, good punch around 3700 to 6000. I have not driven my car in months so I can't remember the figures exactly. Anyway, you need to combine a lot of mods to get something out of an 8V IMO. They always end up too slow for my taste. I hope my 16V will fill my expectations once I swap it in.

Re: What header/ exhaust to buy? (ajothy)

That is funny I got good gains in power from my header. Also a brospeed. I am VERY HAPPY with it. Yes it did move the power band up a little but before my car would crap out up there and I would just be making noise above 4500 rpm. Now I love the mid to upper range. I am running a Eurosport Cool-Flo, TT 268 cam, Brospeed header, AMS chip, TT 2.25" cat back, and a few things I am forgetting about. I am happy with my cars current power. Sure I want more but who doesn't. I say get the header and you will love it. I even went from the dual outlet manifold which is the best manifold you can get and I still got good power gains. I would never go back to the manifold.

yah jokin? Sure you will net power with an exhaut on an 8V. Its also essential before any other mods. I put a schrick in with a stock exhaust... it was SLOWER. Got my TT2.25 on and all was good again. BETTER than good

First thing.. dump your manifold. You dont have to go and get a full tubular header but at least find a dual manifold and DP. Then YES a cat back WILL free up more power.
Techtonics is the favorite, and for good reason.

I try to stay objective but 8v's are slow, I guess I did notice some gains, nothing to get very excited about. What makes it REALLY faster though is a good suspension, brakes & tires. The true power mods.
