What I hate most about other A2 Jetta owners..

Whenever I start following a nice Jetta around here, I always look at the tail lights.. and I've noticed that on a good 80% of them, the lense is melting because of the wrong size bulb in the running lights!
It seriously makes me angry.

DONT YOU PEOPLE GET IT?!?!?!
I want to make them get out of their jetta so I can smack them. A Jetta is a privelege, not a right, should you choose to take that for granted, you deserve to have your Jetta privileges revoked.

I honestly cannot say that I have ever seen anything of the sort.
Maybe you Canadians are just weird and don't know what bulbs to use

Its a conspiracy, set up by the Canadian tire people and the gas stations, along with the dealers and wreckers..
The Canadian tire/ gas station people, are purposely selling the bigger bulbs to unsuspecting Jetta owners, in order to limit the number of "good" taillight lenses in this fair city... why? so the dealers (aka. the reverse vampires) and the wreckers can start selling them for more.
...All to fund some kind of secret reverse vampire project

It makes me sick I tell you. sick.

I've seen it many times. I even made the mistake once myself and ruined a perfectly good tail-light.

My stock tail lights were a bit melted but that was from the previous owner. I changed all the bulbs when I got my Hella tinted tails and have had no problems since. Dave

At least yours work right. My car's right rear reverse light goes out when I hit the brakes, and also my turn signal goes spastic on right hand turns if I have the brakes applied. I do, however, have the right bulbs in there.

nah you guys, it's an enhancement. By keeping the taillights nice and soft, it prevents cracking. Small cracks can even be repaired this way.

Ive got half a mind to put a higher wattage bulb in my tail and drive around your neighborhood just to see you try. chill out, these are old cars and for most people just basic transportation. go be a nazi elsewhere

Ummm, Chris? You might want to look into that... wiring problems can get worse... right now it's probably pretty minor. Though I guess it might be good to wait until things warm up a bit before you go chasing wiring around.

the PO did this to my car with the right taillight, i had to get a new light because it melted a hole right thru it

I thought you were going to talk about the dragging rear end (rotted bump stops).
You won't get the melted lens with a euro bulb holder, they don't have the elevated 5w bulb socket. Sucks to have a melted lens, my friends car has them from the PO.
