Okay, fellow scientists, I know that the benefits of increasing brake diameter include:

1. Better modulation
2. Decreased fade
3. Increased stopping power.
It's #3 that I'm really interested in. If I upgrade from 9.4" front discs to 10.1", how much do you think it will improve my 60mph - 0mph stopping distance?

Re: What is the decrease in stopping distance w/ 10.1 inch brakes? (ijcameron)

2 questions: first, do you have ABS? second, can your current brakes lock the wheels (or get the ABS pulsing)? Regardless of the former, if you answered yes to the latter, then the benefit will be near zero. Your braking is limited in such a case by the grip of the tires. You could convert Porsche Big Reds to your application and while you could stop from 120 over and over and over again, the stopping distance (at least the first time) would be almost identical.
