[Vento__vr6]

Ok so my car has been making this funky noise for about 2 weeks, i first noticed it when it got pretty cold here (20*) and it has persisted since. I took the car to the mechanic today and he told me it sounded like a heatshield rattle. But it doesnt sound like a rattle, it sounds like something is failing. Its more of a grinding/scraping noise. And it only happens when the car is moving, at all RPM's not just the usual around 3k for heatshield rattles. The noise is most noticeable at the low RPM's because the engine and exhaust arent as loud. Any ideas???

hey i think vr6's are great but they suck at the same time i went through one motor because of an oil pump failing and my motor siezed yesterday after geting my oil changed at jiffy lube. i dunno it might be there fault but i would get that checked by a vw engine specialist. im really pissed ive had so many problems with 2 motors already i change my oil not at every 3000 but at every 2500 miles

Where? Engine bay? Details people...
Could be anything, but since it only happens when you move, some ideas:
* wheels bearings
* CV joints (especially around corners)
