I have a 96Jetta III GL 8V with 108k miles. I bought it at 96k miles and have been using Valvoline for higher mileage cars 10w-30. What kind do you guys prefer/use?
I was going to use Synthetic but i was told it can hurt an engine that has been running on non synthetic for a long time. Any suggestions?

Well I've decided on Synthetic but I'm not sure exactly what kind of weight i should go. It doesn't get super cold here about 30degrees Farenheit at the lowest but usually about 50-70 all year round. Maybe 5w30 or 5w40 Full synthetic?

As far as brands go, I use Agip. I figure if it works for formula 1 it will work for me. During warm months I run 20w50 and in the winter 10w40. I find that it helps us that are prone to hi revs!
