Re: What models will the 4.2L V8 fit in??? (RS_Speed_Nut)
well actually there has been a 4.2L V8 in audis line up since 93-94ish when the V8 quattro (that's what it was called, the V8...original huh
) changed from the 3.7L to 4.2L V8, an then the motor reappeared with a increase in power in 97 when the A8 was first released. Anyway, while the new 4.2 in the S4 is considered different than the 4.2 in Audis other cars I'm guessing the dimensions of the motors are similar, an I can't recall hearing of anyone swapping the 4.2 into anything else, though I'm not saying it can't be done by any means. Thing is the 2.7t is stuffed into the B5 engine bay an the same can be said for the 4.2 in the new S4. So I'm guessing it would be pretty damn hard to fit the motor into anything other than a B6 A4 or an A6 or something that size. But I can assure you of this, that motor will never fit in a TT unless its mounted somewhere other than the engine bay. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
But if you could stuff that motor into something smaller it would be a sweet project
