Anyone have any tips on what paint one should use to paint a VR6 engine?........
I'm thinking of sandblasting it first, would maybe also need some kind of primer first?

Also heard that hammerrite paint is a good thing for this, anyone have any experience with it as "engine" paint?.

Also heard that some of the heat-resistant paint won't dry up before the engine have been real hot, making it a bit messy to maybe put the engine back in the car as it's not dry?.
Any tips appreciated!

well first whats the color of the car? then if your going to paint it do it right. you shouldnt have to sand blast it but take the motor claen it all up with a good degreaser then prep it for paint , take a auto paint wax and degeaser and get it all ready for paint. use a good hight heat primer for engines then let it cure fully before you paint the engine with engine paint. a long process but it will make the engine look clean..
and if you cordinate tyhe two cloors it will make all your work to the motor stand out..Hammer lite might not work do to the heat factor never used it but might work? Take the motor and place it in front of a heater get it nice and warm the primer will adhear better and so will the paint , and after place some heat on it it will help it cure also. Key is to get the parts that your going to paint warm so it'll stick and use light coats 2-3 then a medium wet coat for the final . to much and it will not cure as fast. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

The color of the car is brombeer, LK4Z IIRC.
Any reccomendation about paint?........(brands etc?)
So shouldn't be a problem that the heat resistant paint will not stick properly before the engine have been real hot first?, making it "greasy" to put it back into the car, being sticky etc?

por - 15 go to there website they have all the colors they offer there. probally something similar if not better than what VW used from the factory. Good stuff works well on frames, suspension parts, brake parts, pretty much anything that you want to last longer than some krylon.
