what price should a used 2001 1.8T be?

I am trying to find a used 2001 1.8T GTI for a lease or a new 2002 1.8T GTI. I was curious if anyone knew the going price at their local dealer...if they are running any specials or just what the average price is. I know this depends on options but the likelyhood of finding enough identically equiped cars to compare prices is small.

I bought an 02 back in November and it really depends on supply and demand in your area. I have not yet heard of anyone paying more than the MSRP no matter how hard GTI's have been to find. Shoot for $500 - $1000 over invoice. I doubt you'll get one below invoice (maybe a jetta though, since there are so many more of them).

thanks KBB has outrageously high prices and edmunds seem very low.....is there anywhere else to look for pricing?

You'd better trawl the vortex classifieds - a 2000 GTI w/7000 miles went for 15k the other day. I know it doesn't have the variable cam timing or the uprated K03 turbo but if you're going to be modding it anyway why not save the extra 2k or so and put it into a really big turbo
