Just wondered if there is a trend here on Turbocharged Vr6 engines..
I know all the usual stuff of turbos like minimal back pressure etc...
Say for 300hp...
2.5 " ?? 3" ?? 2.25"??
I know that you really want to Tune the size toi cater for HP output.
How much of a difference has anybody noticed swapping between sizes???
Re: What size Exhaust tubing are you Turbo Vr6 Guys using?? (JTestman)
I've heard the 3" setup that Matrix makes, and it's so sweet. 3" from the downpipe, through the high-flow cat, and then 3" the rest of the way back, it sounds awesome.
Re: What size Exhaust tubing are you Turbo Vr6 Guys using?? (Boost Inside)
we just finished my bending my exhaust piping. i got 3" from turbo back including the downpipe, except i am still running a 2.5" rear muffler
- i liked the sound and can't find a humble sounding 3" rear muffler system without installing a midpipe, which i don't want either...

3" seems a bit big to me for 300Hp.
2.5" i thought would be the trend.
I have looked at the real reason for sizing the Exhuast tubing, and this comes back to Air speed, 3" is enougth for up to recomended Exhaust Airspeeds for 500+Hp

Just do yourself a favor and get a 3" exhaust and trust everyone here. Turbos don't like back pressure!!! The quicker that exhaust leaves the better off you are! Now this is not the case in N/A cars. With the turbo you are creating enough backpressure from just the turbo alone.
