I removed the pin stripes on my black Jetta...looking mighty clean now! However, I have some fanit lines where the stripes used to be and I was wondering what I should do to get a more uniform look to the paint? The paint is only 10 months old but my car bakes in the hot Florida sun. I have tried 3M IHG and it helped but I was wondering if I should use a clay bar or what?? Thanks

Re: WHAT TO DO AFTER REMOVING PIN STIPES??? (Matchschtick)

you might want to consider a black pinstripe. you may not be able to polish this out because it is likely paint that has suffered no uv/enviromental damage. your car is still kinda new, but i have seen these ghost stripes after stripes are removed that have been on only 2 months. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

If the lines are just stuff left over from the pinstripes, use bug and tar remover. If it's because there's been no UV light hitting the area under the stripes then I'd talk to a professional detailer.

I experienced this today with a burgandy colored car today. What I did was used a high speed buffer and just polished like an idiot. I got to where you can only see the lines that the stripe indented in the paint. No discoloration what so ever. But with black, oh god. What about wetsanding with like 1800 or 2000 grit sandpaper? then compounding, polishing, then waxing? of course with a high speed poilsher.
