Just about anything that can be done to the 8V VW engine can be done to yours. I'm sure there are aftermarket cams, & you can always do exhaust, port & polish, balance & blueprint, etc...heck I think they even make a turbo kit for the engine, but you'd have some work to convert it from transverse to longitudinal...but be careful, if you have the 3-speed autpo..they are like glass.

Actually the wheels are 4x108, not 110. Unfortunately, not many people in here have a 2.0 slush 80 and almost none of them have done any mods to it. I had a 1988 90 4-cyl, 3-speed. I gave up on engine mods past a decent exhaust & K&N panel filter and concentrated on handling. Decent shocks (Boge ProGas), springs and a set of 15-16" wheel will make a huge improvement...
