I have had a few dubs but the GF is looking at a hardly use TDI Golf.
I have never messed with any desiel and I am woundering what problem areas exist with these new TDI's. Any help will be helpfull.
Is it in her best intrest to get a new one? Warrenty and all? TIA JP

There is some post on vwvortex on timing belt on manuel transmission on 2004 vw diesel model it end up in the longer run than automatic transmission , it about timing belt changed over 60k miles ++

Check all the regualr stuff, for leaks, damage, brakes. Timing belts needs to be changed at 60,000 and is probably somewhere around $900 at a dealer. Check out the engine bay good, look for leaks again. The check engine light would and should be able to let you know about any of the errors of the electronics. If it's on tell them to take it to a dealer and get a printout of what the errors are.
