What to tell the dealer NOT to do to car...???

1555 Views 37 Replies 26 Participants Last post by  berettaboi
I will be buying a new GTi relatively soon, and have basically already worked out a deal for the maximum I would pay over invoice, but didn't sign and told them I would end up paying less than that or no deal. Anyway, I was going to have them throw the license plate frame for the front in the trunk, I don't want them drilling the holes. It's required in my state but I'll go as long as I can without it. Anything else? Anything you wish you would have done when you purchased yours? THANKS!

tell them you do not want the dealer badge put on the back of the car. Some dealer badges are hideouse and you absolutly do not want it on your car. i asked and they didnt put it on the car. But if they have a cool badge you like or are proud of your dealer, its up to you. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

No dealer stickers ! Don't go without checking, then checking the car again and again.

Some people had some swirl marks, including me, I guess from the dealer buffing the car. Maybe ask them to not do it.

If your car has that protective film over it to protect the paint (looks like a white sticker that covers body), make sure that the dealership cleans the edges where the sticker used to be...... the sticky residue from the sticker leaves black lines that need to be really cleaned off.....Make them do it!!!

yea, make sure they get ALL THE RESIDUE OFF! check every seam, every curve, hell, even the flat panels of the car for any of this residue!!!

geez, guys...that residue comes off with cleaner wax.... DO YOU REALLY WANT YOUR DEALER TO WAX YOUR CAR?
you'll get rid of it with your first REAL wax job...

And the wheels... my 17's each had a white sticker on the side of one spoke.
Make sure they install the rear mat clips.
Make sure you get the key code and the radio code.
Tell 'em to set the correct tire pressure. When the car is shipped they inflate 'em to 45psi or something to keep a decent pressure if the car sits for a while. I checked my tires after a week of ownership... 45psi http://****************.com/smile/emthdown.gif

Make sure they don't wash your car!!!! Just tell them you will do it yourself.

Make sure they set the automatic door locking/unlocking feature to your preference.

oh yea, and make sure they let you leave with a FULL tank of gas ... in my excitement, I drove off after having it detailed, got 1/2 mi down the road and nearly wrecked when I heard the "please refuel" sound...
Re: What to tell the dealer NOT to do to car...??? (GTi Dupp)

No pinstriping!
Re: What to tell the dealer NOT to do to car...??? (Deception)

definetly no striping...they have a black gti on their lot (used) with a silver stripe...not my style...
Re: What to tell the dealer NOT to do to car...??? (GTi Dupp)

Check the paint.
Tell them no sticker or pin strips (my dealer doesn't do either
).
Make sure the floor matt pins are in place.
Umm ask for a break down of the 'extras' they might try to get you to eat.
