Re: What VW is this? (Prostrho)

It's the spanish-made Seat Cordoba, which is sold as VW Derby in Mexico and VW Citi-Golf in China. So it is one of the latter two (I cant recognize the nationality of the lisence plates, but I guess they're Chinese?).

In the Philippines that car is called the Volkswagen Polo. The car as far as I can remember was made in Spain. It's 1.8L , 4 cyl.,8 valves, Front disc brakes, rear drum brakes. It was sold in the Philippines from 1996 to 1999. This car is most likely a four door version . Glad I could share some info with you.

Re: What VW is this? (56-okrasa)

Yup...a Polo saloon...also sold here in the UK
Basically the same body as the SEAT Cordoba, but with a Polo front end on it.
The saloon Polo will take the big block engine (like the Ibiza and Cordoba) whereas the Polo hatch will not...well, I'm sure it will take it...just not as a standard fitted engine - just a bit of trivia for you on a Saturday evening!
The polo hatch came with the 1.0/1.3/1.4 8v motors and the 1.4 16v...whereas the Polo Saloon came with a 1.6 8v as its highest output motor...called the GLX I belive - at least these were the models in the UK.
I'm pretty sure VW dropped the Saloon when the restyled Polo was released a year or two ago...SEAT also appeared to drop the Cordoba when they restyled the Ibiza in 1999.
Cheers,
Glen.
